WeCar™: Enterprise Offers Business-to-Business Car Sharing Across the U.S.
In September 2008, Enterprise Rent-A-Car became the first major car rental company to offer a business-to-business car sharing program to corporate campuses, government installations and colleges and universities across the United States. The WeCar™ program is designed to offer an environmentally friendly, convenient and cost-effective hourly car rental option for customers who need a vehicle during the day.
WeCar is customizable to meet the transportation needs of Enterprise's partners, offering the flexibility to attend off-site business meetings, visit customers or run the occasional personal errand – particularly as more consumers embrace mass transit and carpooling and may not have their own car at work or school. In addition, the program benefits the environment by reducing the number of vehicles on the road and helping to ease traffic congestion and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The majority of WeCar's fleet consists of hybrids and other fuel-efficient vehicles.
No paperwork is required when using WeCar. The service's online reservation process is fast and friendly, offering customers the ease of locating their vehicle in designated, easy-to-find parking spaces. Employees or students who enroll in their business's or university's program can conveniently reserve a vehicle for their individual transportation needs 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Enterprise first introduced a WeCar pilot program at Washington University in St. Louis and in downtown St. Louis in early 2008, making hybrid vehicles available to the University's staff, faculty and students. Other current car sharing partners include Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI) in Kent, Wash., and Google in Mountain View, Calif.
